Portugal is one of the most affordable and beautiful countries in Europe and know for its wine and amazing weather most of the year! The tiles that line the city make even the sidewalks pretty.

We stayed at the Double Tree Lisbon which was walkable to almost everything we wanted to do and see. The first day we did a four hour walking food and history tour which was a great way to explore the city and decide what we wanted to do for the rest of our time in Lisbon.
We took a taxi one day to Belem, to see a Belem Tower– a beautiful castle on the water (get there right when it opens), taste the famous pastries at Pasteis de Belem, and see the art museum.

Alfama district is beautiful to walk through to see the Castleo de S. Jorge, cathedral, and gorgeous tiles line the old buildings, the 28 tram runs through this neighborhood and is a must for a photo opt as well. You can listen to the Fado music and relax with a glass of vinho verde and some tapas.

Right on the waterfront, the Time Out Food Market has amazing restaurants in a food hall style set up with beautiful florists, gift shops and live music in addition to the good food options and was very affordable. If you’re looking for a classy souvenir, Avida Portuguesa is the shop to stop in!
