I traveled from Amsterdam to Brussels on early May for a quick day trip. I wish I stayed longer because Brussels was absolutely beautiful! My boyfriend and I arrived at train station, where we stored our luggage in a locker for the day.

Brussels is primarily a business city. Hotels during the week are CRAZY EXPENSIVE (around $400 a night). You can find great Airbnb’s near the city, but make sure you book well in advance. Hotel prices on the weekend are much more affordable.
We were there less than 24 hours, so we talked around the city and grabbed lunch at a random tourist trap part of town.
As a tourist, you are obligated to visit peeing boy statue! there are many rumors as to why it is their country symbol, but none the less, it will be crowded when you see it!

And now, the highlight of our tour in Brussels — a MUST do — beer + chocolate tour! I located this tour from Airbnb experiences and based off the reviews, I could not pass it up. The price is steep at $68 per person, but it was absolutely worth it. Our tour guides from Hungry Mary’s Famous Beer + Choco tour were amazing. The walking tour was 4.5 hours long and our guide shared his favorite places around the city. Our guides were very attentive and gave us lots of samples of beer and chocolate! The chocolate was soooooooo good. Words cannot express. If there was a beer you do not like, they will give you something else to try! They were funny, knowledgeable and even bought us authentic Belgium french fries to try! Warning: Belgium fries are highly addictive!

What makes the french fries from Brussels so tasty? They are cooked twice in animal fat. If you go to a restaurant in Brussels, they french fries will taste like regular fries. Reason: it is expensive and challenging for restaurants to have a separate fryer with animal fat for just fries. Check out the smaller french fry shops instead. It’s their specialty!
We would absolutely go back and check out the Musical Instruments and Comic Book Museums. The city is very fun and walkable. Lots of tourists, shopping and waffles 🙂
